About the position
Melbourne Recital Centre is looking for Technicians (Casual) to join the Operations Department with the delivery of its concerts and event program. We are particularly interested in technicians with experience/certification in rigging, staging or SX, LX and A/V operation.

Primary Purpose
The Technician contributes to the delivery of concerts and events; set-up and operation of technical production equipment and systems, in accordance with qualifications and competencies. The role supports the Operations department with the provision of specialist technical services and knowledge. Core responsibilities include rigging and operation of lighting, sound, audio-visual, projection, staging a* nd furniture equipment and maintaining the upkeep and safety of the Centres equipment.

Main Accountabilities;

  • Set-up and operate production equipment according to qualifications/competencies (including audio, lighting, audio-visual, projection, staging, furniture, and instruments) for a variety or concerts and events within the Centre to the highest international standard.
  • Assist with the bump-in and bump-out of event equipment and instruments.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance, repairs and statutory tests on the Centres equipment as required.
  • Prepare the backstage and Front of House areas for events.
  • Attend production and operational meetings and complete reports and administrative tasks as required.
    Support the Technical Manager with the provision of training to colleagues.
  • The Technician will be required to use initiative and judgement to facilitate technical and production activities within the Centre.

Salary

Melbourne Recital Centre EA 2021 – 2024 2.1.8 + superannuation guarantee, (hourly rate $40.09 inc. 25% Casual loading)
