Just Announced: Melbourne Recital Centre’s acclaimed Great Performers series returns with classical stars Jayson Gillham, Yeol Eum Son, Erin Helyard and more
Announced today, Melbourne Recital Centre’s flagship recital series Great Performers returns in 2022, showcasing local and international classical artists of the highest calibre on the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall stage.
The Great Performers experience is equal parts intimate, moving and awe-inspiring as audiences witness the prowess of masters of their craft, presenting a curated program that is enhanced by an award-winning venue specially designed to make classical music soar. A regular highlight of Melbourne Recital Centre’s calendar for over 10 years, Great Performers stands for exactly that – great performers giving great performances, and this year is no different.
The Great Performers 2022 series includes the following performances:
• Jayson Gillham is a pianist known for his bright toned clarity and appealing warmth. One of the finest players of his generation, Gillham returns to perform works by Bach and Chopin on Monday 6 June.
• Trailblazing oboist Diana Doherty unites with pianist Bernadette Harvey on Tuesday 28 June to perform an expansive program that traverses the Baroque of Telemann to Berio’s thrilling Sequenza VII.
• Together violinist Grace Clifford, violist Wenhong Luo and cellist Richard Narroway are a musical force to be reckoned with, each deservingly lauded for their fine musicianship and passion, don’t miss them on Friday 22 July.
• Praised for her eclectic and rich concerti repertoire, pianist Yeol Eum Son’s flair for creative programming and performance culminates in rich storytelling from a breadth of composers and cultures.
• Join world-leading soprano Miriam Allen and our Artist-in-Residence, composer and pianist Erin Helyard on Wednesday 21 September for an evening of enchanting melodies intuitively performed to sublime effect.
Great Performers Jayson Gillham, Diana Doherty and Miriam Allan also present three revelatory master classes in the Primrose Potter Salon on Tuesday 7 June, Wednesday 29 June & Tuesday 20 September.
