Melbourne Chamber Orchestra 2025
Curated by Artistic Director Sophie Rowell, MCO’s 2025 season pairs well-loved favourites with enchanting discoveries.
Mozart’s sublime Clarinet Concerto meets the music of George Walker, the first African American to win the Pulitzer Prize for Music.
Beethoven and Vaughan Williams join a newly commissioned concerto from Richard Mills AM.
Barber’s beloved Adagio shares a program with Doreen Carwithen’s lyrical Piano Concerto.
Haydn’s beautiful Cello Concerto sits alongside a fabulous French bonbon by Françaix; and harpsichordist Donald Nicolson brings his infectious enthusiasm to a wealth of baroque and modern treasures.
Joining MCO next year are some of Australia’s finest musicians, including clarinettist David Griffiths, pianist Aura Go, harpsichordist Donald Nicolson and – in a rare visit to our shores – world-renowned cellist Li-Wei Qin.
