Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre & The Boite
Details
From Iran to Indonesia, India to Italy, four artists uncover the unspoken and intricate connections within their musical legacies.
Embark on an uplifting performance as ‘The Music Between’ explores how musical traditions evolve and transform as they interact across Australia. This breathtaking collaboration, brought to life by Misagh Zamani, Ria Soemardjo, Vinod Prasanna, and Rosa Voto—self-described as the ‘Four I’s’—redefines musical boundaries. From Iran to Indonesia, India to Italy, they weave a vibrant narrative that transcends cultures. With a fearless spirit of creativity, they embark on a quest to uncover the ‘music between,’ unveiling the unspoken and intricate connections within their musical legacies.
Immerse yourself in the mesmerising fusion of Misagh’s mastery of 16 instruments, including the clarinet, Persian bagpipes, and setar, Ria’s distinct, haunting vocals—a reflection of her Australian/Indonesian heritage, Vinod’s evocative melodies on the bansuri, and Rosa’s fusion of Italian and Mediterranean traditions. Seamlessly converging, they reveal boundless possibilities when musical conversations flow and genres intersect, creating an unparalleled auditory experience in the intimate Primrose Potter Salon.
