Orava Quartet plays Debussy & Dean
Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre & Orava Quartet
Details
Watch as this exciting Australian quartet showcase their ‘intensity, precision and incredible teamwork.’ – Limelight
Predicted by The Australian to become ‘one of Australia’s proudest cultural exports’, Brisbane-based Orava Quartet first joined forces in 2007 and have since taken the world by storm. With global tours, a number one ARIA Classical charts album, and the acclaim of being the first ensemble to release a recording with Deutsche Grammophon (Australia), Orava Quartet have cemented themselves as ‘the most exciting young quartet on the block.’ (Limelight).
Earning a reputation and devoted following for their thrilling performances, the Quartet – brothers Daniel and Karol Kowalik (violin and cello), violinist David Dalseno and violist Thomas Chawner – bring their unique sound and breathtaking intensity to Melbourne Recital Centre in a performance of Debussy’s String Quartet in G Minor, alongside the World Premiere of Paul Dean’s latest commission.
While Debussy’s String Quartet had its first performance more than 130 years before Paul Dean’s new work, Orava Quartet’s ability to blend these two very distinct musical worlds into something contemporary, yet familiar, will be on full display in an unforgettable, and intimate, performance in the Primrose Potter Salon.
