Girl's Notes
Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre & Melbourne Fringe
Details
Traversing the boundaries of contemporary dance and gender, Girl’s Notes intimately challenges the question: How should women behave?
In a boundary-pushing work that is equal parts performance art and contemporary dance, artist/dancer SU Pin-Wen and pianist LIN Mai-Ke draw inspiration from a 1990s Taiwanese book instructing women on how to behave.
With their captivating on-stage presence, witness the duo explore the intentions behind our everyday actions. Challenging heteronormative notions of gender, feminism and nudity, SU transforms dance into a powerful examination of gender dynamics and women’s sexuality within relationships. Avant-garde, abstract, and physical, this work prominently features the naked body of the gender non-conforming artist, boldly redefining contemporary dance.
少女須知”由藝術家蘇品文和鋼琴家林麥可演出,透過兩本書:作者不詳的《少女須知》與安伯托·艾可《美的歷史,透過他的女體經歷,反應台灣90年代新女性主義對近代性別政治的影響。
Fringe Focus Taiwan is supported by The Ministry of Culture, Republic of China (Taiwan), and Cultural Division, Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Sydney.
