Details

Courtney Barnett performs her meditative and slow-burning record ‘End Of The Day,’ along with beloved works from her catalogue.

A new and gorgeous chapter from Courtney Barnett is here with the release of her instrumental album ‘End of the Day’. Comprising 17 seamless improvisations originally created as part of the score for the documentary ‘Anonymous Club’, Barnett’s new album is a meditative, slow-burning, and beautiful record. Prioritising atmosphere, tone and texture over traditional song structures and melodic hooks, it’s a fearless and stunning turn for an artist who built her formidable reputation through profound lyricism and riff-based fireworks.

Performing with acclaimed collaborator and producer Stella Mozgawa (Warpaint), the first set features ambient instrumental music with Barnett on guitar and effects pedals, and Mozgawa on synths from the ‘End Of The Day’ album. In the second set, Barnett selects beloved works from her incomparable back-catalogue with songs from ‘Things Take Time, Take Time,’ ‘Tell Me How You Really Feel,’ ‘Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit,’ and ‘A Sea of Split Peas.’ Marking the final album released on Barnett’s iconic label, Milk! Records, which she founded with Jen Cloher in 2012, don’t miss this unforgettable performance fitting for Melbourne Recital Centre’s 15th birthday celebrations.’
