Gosia Wlodarczak – Frost & Sound Drawing

Gosia Wlodarczak

Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre

Details

A 21-day performance drawing on glass.

From 30 June, artist Gosia Wlodarczak has been undertaking the 21-day drawings process in which she investigates the intersection between art and life, architecture and performance through the act of drawing on the iconic glass honeycomb window facade of the Melbourne Recital Centre. The artwork created is informed and shaped by Wlodarczak’s ongoing and focused observations of the surroundings in real-time whilst she is in residence.

Sound Drawing for the Centre

As an additional component of this multidisciplinary project, a fragment of the drawing on the window has been translated into sound and converted into a score using a specially invented ruled-based visual system. Wlodarczak’s performance will culminate in an immersive finale that will feature the part of the score being played live whilst the conversion process of the drawing fragment into sound will be presented as a video with the main part of the score being the soundtrack. The video will be screened onto the internal architecture of the building.

During the Sound Drawing performance, the artist will finish her drawing.

This project is produced by Linda Catalano at Quiet RIOT Creative and has been generously supported by Melbourne Recital Centre and The City of Melbourne. Gosia Wlodarczak is represented by Gallery Smith.
