Pinchgut Opera – Pleasures of Versailles by Charpentier

Pleasures of Versailles

Presented by Pinchgut Opera

Details

An evening of sumptuous French Baroque delights.

In 1682, Louis XIV initiated the ‘Fêtes d’appartement’, a series of festivities in the intimate rooms of the Grand Apartments at the Palace of Versailles. What took place was a variety of entertainments for the enjoyment of the king and his favourites. Here, Pinchgut presents theatrical representations of two of these divertissements: ‘tiny operas’ by Charpentier.

An exceptional artistic team, and line up of outstanding soloists are joined by an expert ensemble of instrumentalists to deliver a musical experience for our audiences to relish.

This is a delightful evening of refined decadence and sophisticated pleasures, a perfect moment to celebrate the glorious music of the French Baroque, and the sweet simplicity of life itself.

Please note, to ensure Pinchgut Opera provides the best possible concert experience for their audience and artists, Pleasures of Versailles will perform for one date only, on Thursday 14 September. Ticket holders to the Friday 15 September concert will be contacted directly to arrange transfer to Thursday 14 September, or to receive a refund.
