HEKKA

HEKKA

Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre & HEKKA

Details

Ensemble virtuosity married with evocative electronic music soundscapes.

Labelled as ‘one of the most exciting young groups to emerge from Sydney in many years’, piano trio HEKKA are known for their idiosyncratic and inspired approach to live performance whereby song form, improvisation, melody, and minimalism are woven together to create an entirely modernistic sound.

About the concert

Featuring Novak Manojlovic, Jacques Emery and Tully Ryan, the band’s vibrancy, intensity, and iconoclasm led to being awarded the prestigious Freedman Fellowship (Jazz) in 2019.

For this one-off performance in the Primrose Potter Salon, HEKKA celebrate the release of their debut record Everywhere I Go My Body Goes With Me by presenting repertoire which highlights the venue’s unique and renowned acoustics.

Praise for HEKKA

HEKKA…was thrillingly distinctive. This trio’s improvising language is all its own.’ – Sydney Morning Herald
