Stephen McIntyre plays Schumann

Explore a world of romantic imagination.
Legendary Melbourne pianist Stephen McIntyre returns to the Primrose Potter Salon to present an intimate evening of Schumann at his most personal and poetic.
Opening with the rarely performed Bunte Blätter (Coloured Leaves), this treasure trove of musical miniatures represent Schumann’s unpredictable genius. Ranging from tender lullabies to animated outbursts, these compositions from some of Schumann’s most creative years were collected and later shared with the world as a cherished album of musical memories.
Considered one of the greatest love letters ever written, Schumann crafted Fantasie in C while separated from his beloved Clara. A passionate masterpiece with soaring moments of heart-wrenching tenderness, in McIntyre’s hands Schumann’s romantic spirit comes to life in what the great composer himself described as 'perhaps the most impassioned music I have ever written.'
