Freiburg Baroque Orchestra

The acclaimed Freiburg Baroque Orchestra returns for an exhilarating exploration through the Baroque and Classical eras.
Led by dynamic musical director Gottfried von der Goltz, this first of two performances opens with Bach’s spirited Symphony in G minor, setting the stage with its vibrant energy.
Immediately following, the Orchestra present a masterful mix of Mozart works; all fan-favourites from the great composer’s cannon. Witness internationally celebrated Australian pianist Kristian Bezuidenhout’s artistry dance throughout the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall in Mozart’s Piano Concerto No.9 before the virtuosity of his Violin Concerto No.5 dazzles listeners with its lyrical beauty.
Culminating with Mozart’s Symphony No.40, the Freiburg Baroque Orchestra showcase the intensity of this beloved work, striking audiences with a unique – yet thrilling – interpretation presented on period instruments. With dramatic turns and passionate outbursts, this first of two performances is the perfect re-introduction to one of the world’s greatest ensembles.
Duration: 2 hours (incl. interval). Please note, running times are approximate and subject to change.
