Schola Cantorum

Schola Cantorum

Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre

Details

Frequently heard in concert halls around the world, Schola Cantorum from The Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School share their angelic voices in this ethereal matinee.

For their debut Australian tour, Schola Cantorum showcase their remarkable versatility in this performance filled with ‘serenely otherworldly’ (The Guardian) sounds.

With an eclectic program spanning from the intricate polyphony of the Renaissance to the lush harmonies of the 21st century, the ensemble introduces themselves to Melbourne audiences with J.S. Bach’s tapestry of sound in Komm, Jesu, komm before the raw emotion of William Byrd’s Ne irascaris Domine fills the Elisabeth Murdoch Hall.

From the rarely heard Veni Sponsa Me and Romantic textures of Rheinberger’s Cantus Missae, right through to the contemporary worlds of James MacMillan and Eric Whitacre, this celebration of the human voice showcases its infinite possibilities.
