Joel Trigg – The Five Elements
Presented by Joel Trigg
Details
Discover the harmony and beauty of the Five Elements in music.
According to traditional Chinese medicine, life on earth is composed of five elements––Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water––with each element connected in an endless regenerative cycle. This cycle can be found in the passing of seasons, in the transmutation of matter, and even in the complex systems of the human body. In recent times, holistic wellbeing coach Carey Davidson has adapted this traditional diagnostic tool to create a new personality schema (the ‘Five Archetypes’ method) which highlights our diverse strengths and needs and maps a path to inner and interpersonal flourishing.
Embracing the five elements’ eco-cosmological roots and their modern metaphorical potency, pianist and composer Joel Trigg presents a new suite of music which, in the spirit of Davidson’s work, is designed to enrich our self-understanding, enhance empathy, and soothe the anxious soul. This concert will feature Trigg performing his new work The Five Elements for solo piano.
