Allison Russell
Presented by Melbourne Recital Centre in arrangement with Bluesfest Tours
Details
GRAMMY® Award-winner Allison Russell presents an evening of soulful, genre-defying music.
GRAMMY® Award-winning artist Allison Russell is celebrated for her emotionally charged music and powerful storytelling. A self-taught singer, songwriter, poet, activist, and multi-instrumentalist, Russell redefines what it means to be an artist in the 21st century.
From her devastatingly moving celebration of survivors’ joy in her debut album Outside Child to the body-shaking, mind-expanding, soulful expression of Black liberation that is The Returner, Russell’s songs blend influences from blues, folk and soul into a sound distinctly her own.
Joined by her Rainbow Coalition Band – a talented ensemble of Black, POC, queer, and historically marginalised musicians, experience the lush and uplifting sounds that have established Russell as one of the most compelling voices of our time.
