Bass guitarist Christopher Hale is recognized as “one of the most unique and respected musicians in Australia” (Glam Adelaide) and an “Australian jazz heavyweight and a brilliant, groundbreaking composer” (Rhythms Magazine). Growing up playing Brazilian music and Flamenco, Hale has always involved himself deeply in musical traditions, bringing the essence of these styles into his own unique vision for jazz and improvisation. Following a chance encounter in 2011, he fell in love with traditional Korean drumming and has since been performing and studying in Korea, learning the Korean rhythm system called hohup, a breathing and movement method at the heart of Korean drumming’s power and flow.
