As the most celebrated and well-known violinist of his home country, Lu Siqing has appeared with all major orchestras in China. In June 1996, Mr. Lu became the first Chinese instrumentalist to present a personal music week, “Lu Siqing Music Week,” during which in four concerts performed seven concertos and several virtuoso pieces.
At 11, Lord Yehudi Menuhin chose Siqing to study at his school in London. In 1984 he returned to China for advanced studies at the Conservatory in Beijing, and five years later, he went to New city and studied with Dorothy DeLay and Hyo Kang at the Juilliard School. In addition to the Paganini First Prize, Lu Siqing was a winner of numerous international competitions including those in Beijing, England, and the U.S.
Lu Siqing has worked with many of the world’s esteemed musicians including LorinMaazel, Valery Gergiev, Edo de Waart, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Lawrence Foster, Jaap van Zweden, OsmoVänskä as well as leading Chinese musicians such as Oscar winner Tan Dun, with whom Siqing gave the world premier performance of his Violin Concerto “Hero” in Poland in 2011, Long Yu, Jia Lu, Muhai Tang, Shao-Jia Lu, Wen-Bin Jian, Chao-Liang Lin, Yujia Wang, Jian Wang and others.
